[BC] FCC Enforcing DTV Notice to Consumers

They started doing that as soon as "flat-panel" TVs came out.
I remember seeing a wonderful 42-inch TV at Best Buy for "only"
$2,999. ----Then I read the fine print. I needed to buy a receiver
and some speakers for $600. Consumers need to be aware.
I hung onto my perfectly-good 25-year old Sony tube TV and
bought a Motorola Digital receiver box to feed it from an off-
the-air signal. I could receive all the Boston, Providence,
and Manchester, NH., digital stations from an outside,
antenna as Radio Shack sales-persons claimed was
impossible without a special digital antenna! Note that
aluminum tubing somehow knows if its digital.
Buyer beware.
Eventually, since DSL wouldn't work, I needed to connect
to the Internet through cable. That's when I bought a
"fully integrated" flat-panel TV. They are now pretty cheap.
But, they take at least one-second for a channel change
because of the way a digital picture is "built up." This makes
channel-surfing a pain.
