CRL's processor for limited-bandwidth, aggressively-processed Shortwave
use was the MBL-100. Used examples are uncommon.

I've heard of a number of hams who use an Inovonics 222 limiter with a
simple wideband AGC/compressor ahead of it. Anything much more than that
is just going to burn up the modulation transformer of an average ham rig;
they were never designed for heavily processed audio.

My bargain buy on eBay a few years ago was a CRL APP-400 mono dual-band
AGC for $65.00. It sounds good and works perfectly to spec; it didn't
even need a recapping. CRL's stereo AGCs and Spectral Energy Processors
typically sell in the $150 to $250 range on eBay, depending on age and
functional condition.
