[BC] WIBC

I don't know that if I were the decision maker I could have been
convinced to do this "stunt" but there is more to the story. Their
morning man on WIBC for the last 20 years abruptly resigned a week
ago which had people scratching their heads for a couple of
days. Their two previous morning men each had a tenure in the range
of 20 years. (One followed the other, they were not there at the same time.)

Then the other shoe fell. The institution, the mothership of the
Indy 500 broadcast for so many years, the 50,000 watt station will
pack up those call letters and ship them (and something kin to the
current programming) over to the FM station that has been co-owned
all these years under maybe 3 owners. WIBC-AM under new call letters
will become an ESPN Sports talker as I understand it. So we have a
93 day stunt to call attention... I guess to 93.1 on the dial, to
make sure everyone in town is talking about the shift-around.

None the less, it is still a bit "tacky".

Vernon Kuehn, who spent 34 years in Indy and remembers a lot of the
WIBC glory days. (I didn't work for them.)
