For those not wanting to do the reg edits manually MS tweekUI also has
an auto log on feature it works very nicely easy to do and un-do with
out risk of reg editing.

The use of "control userpasswords2" is the only way to do autologon to
the local machine. This will, by the way, also log you on to your domain
if the computer is a member and the username/pass combination is the
same.

These are actually two different things.

The first one is the how-to for bypassing the login screen on a
standalone or workgroup computer.

The second one is allow automatically logging on to a domain, though it
does give the "bypass login screen" info at the end of the article.

I've been using the same registry edits to auto-login since NT4.
