That's interesting because I remember reading the FCC rules regarding
spectrum occupancy measurements for AM after the NRSC curve was implemented
and it appeared to me that whoever wrote the rule took most of the technique
from the 2710 operators guide. I think operationally the 2710 was used quite
a bit for AM occupied bandwidth measurements. I agree that I would stay away
from buying one of these units at this point because that model is long in
the tooth and support is non existent. But if you can borrow a working unit
I found it perfectly suitable for AM occupied bandwidth measurements.

None of the 492/494 series, including the 494AP that I have will do 
300 Hz RBW.  They have 10 Hz, 100 Hz, 1 kHz, 10 kHz and 1 MHz RBW.

The 2712 will do 300 Hz RBW and is a fairly decent unit.  The 2710 
will do 300 Hz RBW but is basically a cable TV unit.  I would advise 
staying away from the 2710.
