>>Just a word of warning that you and your staff need to be careful
about
File-Sharing Programs and DRM on any of the laptops.
History has proven to me that the salesman have a tendency to make
"Innocent
or I had no idea" mistakes that can wreck havoc on internal networks or
god
forbid that a salesman copied or received an audio recording from a
client
that is infected or has been breached by a DRM.
If the DRM gets into one of the Control or Production systems you have
a
very real chance of destroying your Investment in your audio.
Remember that DRM is not picked up by most Anti-Virus scanners and is
very
effective at breaching Firewalls and other security features because of
it's
Root Kit capability.<<
Another reason to not let Windows Vista near any company-owned computer
in a radio station. Its DRM management can effectively destroy software
and files the user has paid for and legally owns.
As for the rest of it, Symantec AntiVirus - Corporate Edition will
detect rootkits, as will several of the antispyware apps. Using a
centrally managed antivirus solution, which requires a password to
uninstall and whose ability to be unloaded by the user can be locked out
at the server, is the best idea...and as a bonus, it removes a huge
management headache from sysadmins too.
