LM13600's are voltage controlled amplifiers (VCA's). They weren't bad for
their time.

It is amusing to look inside a late '70s / early '80s CRL processor.
Except for the voltage regulators in the power supply, every last one of
the ICs is either a TL072 or LM13600!  You could almost literally build
the entire circuit out of Radio Shack parts, except for the "black boxes",
which are socketed like ICs but only contain passive components
(resistors, capacitors, and diodes).
