(only problem I ever noticed was that pesky
25 Hz. "pilot" under quiet passages.)

Interesting...you should have never been able to hear that 25 hz tone as it
should have been rolled off within your receivers audio circuitry

Even if you upgraded to a mono SS rig and cleaned up the signal path from the
transmitter all the way out to the tower and up, you would sound much better.
Those with mono only radios would not know the difference in the sound of the
station if WABV were operating in stereo or not...the sound would be the
same. [ This is assuming that everything is properly tuned and audio processing
set like it should be ]

The question surrounding C-Quam operations and the loss of coverage has been
a long standing myth. I once engineered for 12 years, an AM station that
operated C-Quam. I conducted an unscientific "test", left the station operating in
mono one day...drove around and listened to the station, the next day operated
in stereo, drove the same route...noted no difference in loudness or apparent
change in signal strength. I repeated the above, but this time with an FIM,
no changes in signal strength. So the "you'll lose coverage with C-Quam" line
is a myth...period.
