Back in 1997, WFIF upgraded to a brand new Harris Gates 5 and Optimod
processor. After my air shift, I put on my Engineer's hat, and with the help of my
good friend Ed Butler from across town, we got that box up and running by
midnight... just in time to fire it up... go downstairs, slap on the cans and open
the mic. This is what I said, word-for-word...
"This is WFIF, Milford, testing... MAN, this thing sounds GOOD!!!" (Ed got a
good chuckle when he heard that on the TX room monitor! LOL!)
So then I spun-up a CD, and couldn't believe my ears! It was like coming out
from under a blanket! Drastically crisper highs, and *real* bass that sounded
*wonderful*! Here I thought "Ol' Bessie" didn't sound "too bad"... compared to
the new box & new processor, it was like a $5 "Flavoradio" compared to a $50
"Superadio" in WIDE mode! :)
