The Raytheon at WKDK in Newberry, SC was a RA250. What became of that, Powell?
Its quite a different beast than a RA1000, a REAL MANS transmitter. You could live inside that beast.

The RA1000 was the only 1kW, to my knowledge, that had full push-pull RF 833 triodes driven by PP 813s. All the other quad 833 rigs used a parallel pair in RF for 1 kW. It had a beautiful output circuit, all balanced, with a variometer coupler for the unbalanced 50 ohm load. Few years ago I stripped the one that Don Niccum was getting rid of at KBIM, Roswell, for parts, the iron was all what I would call super HEAVY duty, lots of oil filling. The output circuit was perfect for a true balanced antenna tuner, for feeding open wire feeders on 1.8 MHz and up.
