Good grief!  It's not all that hard or expensive to hook a silence 
sensor to the dial-out remote control!  So, maybe nobody cares?

(I have noticed that some local TV stations may be off the air for a 
day or two.  I guess that since 95% or more of TV viewing is via 
cable, they don't care about those of us who still use 
over-the-air.  But that doesn't apply to radio.)
