Jim, I'm sure I'm not alone in saying, "We feel your pain"... but the answer 
to that question is a four-letter-word: "TIME". Rather, the lack thereof.

Unless someone wishes to do this as a *hobby* project (or they are an 
Engineer/Owner) it's not likely to be worth their time to build from scratch, w
hen 
ready-made units are inexpensive & ready-to-go.
