Yup, some of the guys here at CBS-TV told me that there are indeed oil
derricks in that area. Or at least there were.... There were many of
them in the 30s, 40s, and some still left in the 50s and maybe some
still there today.
The La Brea tar pits are just a few blocks off of Santa Monica Blvd.
And as further proof, the crooks in the movie DID drive past some
small tanks, which were probably oil storage tanks.
Who would have thought that Hollywood, CA is/was a big oil producing area?
So much for it being an AM directional array!
