Dana, obviously you don't understand the royalty process ;) ...see the struggling labels need to cover their 'operating costs' and their 'advances' and their 'legal fees' and their 'distribution' etc... from the sales of those 70 million albums, then the starving managers and underdressed agents need to be paid. then their chevette-driving lawyers need to be paid. and once all that is done, they take their standard fees off the top and send $240,000 and a demand for the next contractual obligation album to the spoiled overpaid greedy artists ;)
Take a look at the arrangement that SoundExchange has. The very first thing is that they cover all operational costs BEFORE they take a fee out of whatever is left that they distribute. Rest assured that their operating costs are far far far far far in excess of anything they will EVER send to the performers they claim to be doing this for. was it just a coincidence that SoundExchange's offices were on the same floor as the RIAA offices and that they shared the same legal representation? "It's all about the artists" no, really it is, honest...
iBiquity and SoundExchange what a potential combo!

We do talk, so they can stuff their protection racket payments where the sun
don't shine!
Did any of you see that The Bay City Rollers are suing their former label over
royalties? They sold 70 million + copies of their records over 30 years. The
total payment(s) they received from their label? $240,000.00

But you're forgetting the Music MafiAA! Gotta pay them... thru the nose, if
you stream so much as one note of music... else you'll be thrown into the
river
by a cement bankruptcy action.
