Given that the current AM nighttime interference calculations are based
on theoretical, not actual, interference (including all those
nonexistent Canadian AMs), I don't think you'd need to wait for Boston
(or Nashville!) to light up IBOC at night in order to show that the
amount of incoming interference to WTWP is now significantly higher, and
therefore that WFIF should get night juice.
(And indeed, I think we'd all get old and gray waiting for Boston to go
digital on 1510.)
I disagree with Robert on the sideband at issue, though - just imagine
how much interference would be dumped into WTWP's analog signal on 1500
if every single graveyarder on 1490 went digital. No, that's not going
to happen - but now we can say, theoretically, that it COULD...and
calculate a new NIF for WTWP accordingly. Right?
