I seem to recall that FM in Japan starts at 72 mHz. and goes to just over  
100 mHz.  This may be off or incorrect,  but anyway it has been  proposed in 
numberous postings on both the Broadcast and Radio-Tech lists that  Channel 6 be 
changed to FM,  with exclusive applications for AM stations to  move to FM 
especially daytimers and AM's with no or nightimer powers of  less than 500 
Watts.  Maybe it ouight to be extended down below channel  6.   
 
However I have heard of several channel 6's planning to come back to 6 with  
8VSB.  And as I mentioned I know of two Channel 5  DTV 8VSB stations  in 
operation.
 
Mark I believe you are correct maybe broadcasters should act before other  
services go after all these channels.   Same for the Low Frequency AM  bands 
below 500 kHz.  What about Digital down there?
