Where is the plan to hand channels 5 and 6 over to public safety? This is
the first I've heard of it and I'm heavily involved in public
safety/critical infrastructure radio systems. "
" I think has been stopped many years ago... New HDTV Channels are
operating
oin Channel 5 in Knoxville and in the Birmingham area. I have also heard
of
several channel 6 stations wanting to go back to 6 after Feb. 2009.

A local channel 3 (analog) is running their HDTV on channel 2. It has
totally trashed up the six meter band to the point of being unusable. I
have to admit to having never seen a local digital channel, but have been
told that all of them are mostly just NTSC format being transmitted
digitally. I wonder what's going to happen to other non-TV users of the
same spectrum when there are robust sporadic E openings or F2 openings on 54
to 60 MHz.
