KMPC/710 ... easy to photograph as it is in Van Nuys, not far from all
the studios.

That was one of the original RCA BTA-50F installations, and it had a 10
kW RCA next to to 50F.

I presume a Nautel or equal has long since replaced the 50F.

'PC was still running the 50 days and the 10 nights, when I last visited
that site in 1964, and the 50F was still running ... and running ... and
running.

It was an all-new installation in 1947, having moved from Beverly Hills,
and 5 kW, to LA and 50/10 kW.

'PC is one of only two Class Bs in the US which are protected by a
co-channel Class A, KIRO, in this case. (The other is 1510 in Boston,
being protected by WLAC).

According to my family's oral history, my maternal uncle E.J. Krause
owned the station until it was purchased by the Richards group (WJR, et
al).

'PC was KEJK before it was KMPC ... "The Station of the Stars".

The "stars" you noticed on the building probably were part of the "The
Station of the Stars" logo.
