[BC] HDTV's impact on portables

I have a very nice little RCA 3" color TV that I travel with.  Soon to be
obsolete.

You want your cake and eat it too I guess. I think Robert's point is right.
I suspect that a portable DTV receiver like Sony's Watchman for analog will
be available if there is enough of a market. I can't answer all of your what
ifs but you were looking for a battery operated solution and I came up with
one. Perhaps somebody else will find that there are in fact portable DTV
receivers available.

That's fine for someone who is not only computer literate, but who also has 
the laptop already, and enough $$ to buy this card... or who has the $$
needed 
to buy both, and does so, before a crisis hits.

I have seen battery portable TV's for $40. (Even less at flea markets.)
Can't 
say that for such a setup, above.
