[BC] Digital TV

This is a particularly slippery slope. While radio boasts about
broadcasting in "HD sonic clarity" while delivering no information to
their listeners, TV can and has been eluding to a clearer picture and
more content on their "additional channels". However, you are correct
that no station is going to tell their viewers that their sets will be
obsolete in a year or two. Just last evening at Wal-Mart I watched a
couple in their 30's trying to decide which TV to buy. He wanted the
$1,600 flat screen HD ready TV. She thought the 27" regular $199.00
model was a better choice because it was cheaper. She won the argument.
And when Oprah disappears from her screen in 2009, chances are it will
be his fault.
