Agreed. We use TieLine's for back-up STL's on our AM's. Can't tell the
difference between the uncompressed T-1, digital STL or the TieLine on the
air. For remotes on the FM's, they're nearly as good as ISDN 128 mono and
indistinguishable to G.722. We tried the TieLine on one of our FM's as a
back-up STL's, but it didn't fare as well. After a while, the audio did
wear on you and you could hear the coding artifacts. It's one test I
wouldn't even consider doing with a Matrix or Hotline.
One frustration I have is the a-la-carte pricing on their boxes and the
sometimes less than clear documentation that some modules/features I think
should be standard are rather pricey upgrades.
