You are, of course, absolutely correct, and I have, indeed, operated there on several occasions. I have enjoyed lengthy QSO's without incident. It is almost like an oasis, for sure! The freq I'm seeing most of the AM activity is 3685. I heard some on 3630 the other day, also.

Note to others: That is the EXTRA portion of the band. You'll need an Extra Class license to operate there. IMHO, just getting that 100Khz of spectrum "all to ourselves" is a great motivation to upgrade! :) No more Morse... so why not?

True... you are supposed to limit the bandwidth to 6Khz (+/-3) but down below 3600, there's still plenty of room. Find a quiet spot, and fire up the rig. I don' tknow what the freq response of mine is, but I know it's less than 5khz.
