This FCC engineer is a good guy-I've known him over 25 years-but hs seems
tired and frustrated.

The bottom line? DON'T blame the local FCC guys because they are doing the
best they can. Blame the guys in Washington for not giving them more
support,
and for deciding it's more important to fine 100 watt college stations 7
grand
for not filing their renewals on time then to enforce the rules on a local
level.

Dana, this is pretty much the same story that I've heard from the Denver
Bureau. Dealing with DC means paperwork in tripliquadrupliqunintuplicate.
They've been VERY good to work with, very respectful of owner/operators who
try to do things right, much more interested in getting me legal than
writing me a ticket. One particular engineer was great about answering
questions and pointing me in the right direction for help & info outside the
Bureau. He was also pretty good about stopping to shoot the breeze on the
rare occasion when he passed through town.

I've seen the same engineer write BIG fines if he felt like he was getting
jerked around. I've respected him & his job, he's respected me, & I've been
glad to call him a friend.
