Chris:
When I was shopping for a 50 kW AM, one of the manufacturers i was
considering, had exactly what you describe. Our new 50 kW rig would
pay for itself over
its usable lifetime along with the other attendant advantages. My case was a
matter of the corporate structure simply being unwilling to let go of the
money. The new transmitter was not bought. Management had no problem
excepting the
spreadsheet and all of the other arguments for a new transmitter, so it was
not a matter of a poor sales job. The mother ship simply did not want to write
the check for it. This problem I have seen a lot over my career.
