Ok, and I'm sick of station operators who don't give a rat's posterior for the Rules and for obeying the Law! >:[

If I were to carry this logic further, then if I see someone breaking into my neighbor's house, I should mind my own business and go on? Hey, they're not on MY property! They're not interfering with MY house! Right?
HOGWASH!!
Is the implication, here, one of condoning blatant, flagrant violation of the Rules? IE: ILLEGAL activity is to be winked at and ignored?
I think not.
>We've got enough problems with AM as it is

Yes, we sure do... and what we do *not* need is a growing wave of stations operating with illegally high powers well outside their authorized hours!
>we don't need what I call the "AM Police" running
>thier mouths and stiring up fights
What we *do* need is proper enforcement of the FCC Rules. If stations obey, they have nothing to fear. If they break the law, willfully and repeatedly, then they deserve to get "busted". Simple as that.
I know that I do my fair share of griping about the restrictions of having to operate Daytime Only... and the recent change to DST with will rip away an hour of Morning Drive programming for three whole weeks... several suggestions I have gotten were downright shameful, IMHO! One suggested signing-on anyway. Another suggested a less blatant violation, to use the special 290 watt April pre-sunrise for those weeks in March. That is not authorized on our license, so it's not going to happen. Plain and simple.
I will reiterate my original point: What gives the Daytimer in the next town the right to flout the law and sign-on when they feel like it, while the other stations continue to obey the Rules? Breaking the Rules is wrong. If there is anything *I* can do about it, I will. Call me "Police" if that makes you feel better. I prefer the term "Law-Abiding Citizen". Thank you.
Willie...
