I visited KBOX in 1962 and ISTR that, along with carts for jingles and news
sounders, they had one running continuously in record/play for reverb.

I worked a campus gig at KBOX in 1962 while attending SMU in Dallas. At
that time they were running an EMT Echo like KLIF. They had an Echo button
with a Fisher "SpaceExpander" on the microphone channel for the weather tower.
News could also activate the echo on their mike for the news datelines.
There was also a Fusher unit in Production. I don't recall any full time tape
echo units at KBOX. The EMT was located up the hill from the studios, behind
the transmitter. At the time I was there we had two cart players in the main
control room. They were starting to convert to cartridges. The McKenzie
was used for breaks and jingles. Commercial were still ET's. We used three
of the four turntables for commercials, intros and promos. One of the
Turntables had the 45 rpm well in the table and it was used for the top 40 tunes
and was the front one on the right side.
