I've sent out hundreds of resumes. I've also been brushed off, lied to (one
regional DOE told me the week after Thanksgiving that he wouldn't be making a
decision until after the holidays, then he hired someone else TWO DAYS
LATER!). Most people simply don't give you the courtesy of any reply at all
(including some here!).

One final thought....I try to treat everyone I know in a manner with which I
would like to be treated myself...

DO YOU????

So you've never been in the position of giving someone bad news? You ever managed people you like?

You left la for the magic self employment thing (crowing as you moved) then shortly thereafter decided it wasn't paying so well and you expect people to tell you they are not going to hire you?

What world do you live in? Former employers are hesitant to admit they've employed someone for fear of liability. So now out of courtesy a regions engineer is going to tell you:

1. I am not going to hire you because: Pick one.....

                               A. You have experince and will be too expensive.
                               B. You know that RF is nice, but its all computers now
                               C. I just don't like you that much.
                               D. There's this new grad whose cheap.

What you are describing as courtesy is difficult at best and I was very impressed when I applied for a job I was very qualified for and the GM told me he had heard bad things about me. I was grateful and will one day go back and ply him with alcohol to see what was said and by whom.

Dean (being on the beach now is good cause its a sandy beachy california thing)
