Yeah? So what?

*As has already been discussed, he's got a lot of passion for the
business. What's wrong with sharing the enthusiasm?

*He's an on-air talent. Everybody's gotta have their schtick.

*Would you rather he be the "iPod God", or the "XM-Sirius God", or whatever?

What's wrong with accepting his enthusiasm for what it is? Give him
credit for trying to bring some energy to the business when a lot of
people his age (present company not included) couldn't care less about
radio. Give him credit for trying to show his peer group that
broadcasting is still a decent way to make a living.

I have to wonder if there's just a little bit of envy here. Yes, I
understand all of the very sound reasons given for replacing the RCA
with a SS rig. If I owned or managed a station, I'd be trying to figure
out how to get that new rig. I'm not trying to reopen that debate. But
c'mon, guys--if money could be ignored, who wouldn't want those
firebottles glowing in the back room? Hmmm? It's a throwback to the
days when programmers and engineers ran stations, not accountants. Who
wouldn't long a little for those days?

(Hey, if we could dream, and it was my station--state-of-the-art SS
main, SS aux, and a nice RCA/Collins/Continental, or what-have-you in
the back, to light up for the school tour groups...)
