Of course- leave it to me to go straight to the Britney quip and miss the
crux....

WTIC AM (50 kW 1080) in Hartford's transmitter is located in a building
that was upgraded during the cold war for just such a thing-
steele shutters, EMFing screen throught the building, and a basement "bomb
shelter" studio (recently reinvigorated
nicely by Chief Engineer Jeff Hugabonne). Replete with hand held radiation
detectors IIRC.
The fuel tank for the generator was recently upgraded by the CT officials as
well. It's probably the best equipped station
for emergency use in the state.

This discussion has me wondering if there are any wide-coverage
broadcast stations currently "hardened" against EMP. Does anyone know
if this is the case?
