Low sensitivity isn't really the issue with the BA or Accurian, it
seems to be "hash" that leaks out of the power supply and/or
microprocessors inside the radio (or from nearby computers, monitors,
and other household appliances) which couples into the rat-tail
antenna. Separating the antenna from the radio usually solves this
problem.
The selectivity of the Accurian is actually superior to most high-end
tuners I've used. I have one here, so I'll take some sensitivity
measurements tonight and report my findings tomorrow.
