KYES-DT in Anchorage, owned by Jeremy Lansman and his wife Carol
Schatz, already offers high-quality 320 kbps Dolby audio on their
secondary channel:

With the development of E-VSB, which provides much better mobile
reception than 8-VSB, I strongly suspect TV broadcasters will begin to
offer new audio services in their excess bandwidth.  DTV stations
might also be allowed to use a scheme called "distributed
transmission", which allows "gap-filler" transmitters to be dropped
into weak signal areas without causing destructive interference.
WTVE-DT licensed to Reading, PA, is in the process of installing such
a system in the Philadelphia market, so it will be interesting to see
how well it performs:
