They generate EXACTLY the same result!

One of them used a 38 kHz switching rate and the other used 40 kHz
but method-wise they produced the same output.  I understand the FCC
chose the one using 38 kHz because it was somewhat more spectrally
efficient.

And while I am at it, the "pilot" is nothing but a synch signal for the
demodulator.
