Ira Lipson was doing good things at the Zoo at that time. KPLX and others
sounded great. Just good programming.
An amazing amount of talent flowed in and out of the Dallas market. KLIF
ex's appeared throughout the southwest. Both John Borders and Ken Dowe had
stations in this area.

Dallas was one of the first major FM markets. When I was there in the
mid 70s most of the high-rated stations were FM. Only WBAP and,
occasionally, KRLD would rank high among them. WBAP always being #1.
I suspect that history of FM makes them pay attention. It also has
flat terrain. It was a time when other markets rarely saw an FM in
the top10. There were lots of Class Cs on tall towers.
