As ever, my anti-HD blasmphemies are yet again blocked.

Re: those who vainly question your empirical evidence of no HD sales,
claiming that only pertains to Springfield, two easy nullifications:

  1. Your observations re HD sets molting on store shelves concur with all
others.
Sales figures show listeners are aware of HD and remain nonetheless
uninterested.

  2. Peter Lynch delighted Magellan Fund investors with manifold returns.
He advocated a simple strategy: visit your local malls.
Note which chain stores are busy. Invest in them.

Why doesn't Lynch's simple proven strategy apply to our 'inevitable digital
future'? About all I can think of is that HD promoters, like disingenuous
spoiled brats, expect a complicit FCC to reward their destructive choices.

Listeners aren't fooled. The equal purchase to return rate for HD receivers
speaks for itself.

Radio World editorial yesterday claimed a 'Wow!' factor is needed, and
mentioned flashing messages. Great. Now Ma can cause five-car decapitations when
craning her neck to read 'Buy Pepsi Now!' during Pepsi spots, as one 'expert'
proposed?

Spare us.

Many listeners with whom I've spoken - without benefit of my opinion - say
HD 'blocks my favorite station(s) so that all I'll hear is a couple of big
networks.'

"Cynical ploy" is a commonly expressed summation.

Bored-room cynics will doubtless salivate, seeing those reports as their true
goal realized.

They might be chagrined to learn that listener apathy is quickly becoming ill
will because of their HD jamming. Some listeners say HD 'Balkanizes radio'.

Many listeners, underwhelmed by AM and FM HD audio, are irked by the side
'benefit' of 'gunking up other nearby stations'.

Did promoters think listeners wouldn't notice? They must have, given their
profuse overblown denials re interference. Will BigBoys outsmart themselves?

It wouldn't be the first time the we've heard 'Here I am, Ma! Top o' the
world!'

                                                                Best,

                                                                   z
