I know a station that used to have something similar... a box about the size 
of a fridge, attached to the side of a telephone pole, with the single-bay 
antenna at the top. It was up near the top of a hill, so they had "reasonable" 
coverage. Once they finally built a proper shack and tower, their coverage 
doubled.
