Good point, Glen. Another is the maturing of the audience. When the
average EZ listener was 45 years old, that was wonderful. When that
listener turned 55, the agencies don't want him and no matter how
robust the ratings, the aging of the audience killed the format. Many
operators tried to add music to appeal to younger demos. Some worked and
many made transition to soft AC. Others killed the format. It was all
about content, but when the audience is no longer considered desirable
by advertisers, it's all over.
