Let's be fair. . . we ALL have stories about ALL of the
manufacturers -- each of just decides to "like" one or two
of the manufacturers more than the others, based upon
statistics or emotion, or the way one particular employee
of one particular manufacturer engages us.

I have a recent "story" about my most-favored
manufacturer, and several about each of the others.
That's the down-side of contracting for so many stations
for many years. EVERY ONE of them has their gotchas
and their PR and Customer Service failures.

However, I have so many "Harris Stories" that, a couple
of years ago, when the then-COO of Harris Broadcast put
his arm around me at a Public Radio Engineering Conference
dinner hosted by Harris, and started to "talk me up", I offered
to send him an email with my "Harris Stories".

I remembered four of them in the hotel room that night,
and sent them to him. It was entitled "Fool Me Thrice", and
ended with the phrase, "How do you think I feel when you
smile at me and ask me for my business?" The next day, I
got a response. He understood how I feel, and did not
try to change that. Harris has not attempted to get my
business since.

I remembered the fifth story shortly after that.

The fact that they made what may be the most reliable
AM transmitter I've ever installed (DX-10, WRCA,
Waltham/Boston, MA) does not change any of the other
factors in my overall experience.
