Tom,
  It may be WPDC's audio processing. Vince told me they purchased a new
Nautel J-1000 box, and they were pleased with it. You can probably blame
it on the audio processing.
  I've seen small news/talk/sports use on an Inovonics 222 for audio
processing, and that's it. I've tested the 222 barefoot, and its o.k.
for news/talk, but music sounds real muddy. The box was really just
designed for NRSC compliance, to be put in front of existing processing,
but I've seen a number of station just use that box for processing.
  If you're getting them at 20 miles with a good strong signal, just
imagine if you go an Ominia or Orban for audio with their system. This
sounds great with just a 75' pole, coil loaded.

WPDC is quite strong here on 1600 in Harrisburg Pennsylvania 
at perhaps eighteen to twenty miles.  They never had good 
audio though but I don't think it's caused by the antenna.

I can hear WJUN at maybe thirty miles on 1220 but it is 
somewhat weak.  Also, there is a local on 1230 that 
interferes with WJUN.
