The key is to remove NAV before installing ANYTHING ELSE! First thing out of
the box. The other safe measure is to build your own.

That's just one reason I stay away from pre-fab boxes, and build my own
computers. This way, *I* load the OS, and only install what *I* want on the
HD.
Usually, if you uninstall stuff before using the computer for anything else,
it
tends to be OK. If I remember correctly, when the uninstaller runs, it asks
you
about deleting certain "shared' files. If you say YES, it ends up deleting a
critical component of Windows. (ooops!) I think that is what has happened to
your machine. Did it not come with a restoration disk? (That will wipe
everything, and re-install what was originally on the machine. Once done,
that is when
you rip out the stuff you don't need, being aware of this bug in the
Norton.)
The other option is to go to the manufacturer's site and download the modem
drivers. that should get it back up and running. The drivers may have also
been
corrupted by the fouled uninstall.
