[BC] Transmitter failures

Oh, no question that they can - I'm realistic enough to believe that =
anything that current does flow through, it will eventually stop flowing =
through (usually at 3:00 Saturday morning). I was more curious as to =
making sure that we had been informed and that we were providing any =
necessary support with respect to getting it back on air.

That said, on the AMPFET 10 - what frequency is it and did you call us =
when the cap went south? There was a relatively undocumented mod on =
that and it might be worthwhile for consideration if you're at a high =
risk (i.e., above 1200kHz) frequency.

Best,

Subject: [BC] Transmitter failures

Jeff,
Don't be too curious.. surprisingly Nautels can occasionally fail just=20
like any other transmitter I've ever met, (hey that's what keeps us=20
field guys employed). I Just recently had the opportunity to go from not =

knowing anything about the Amfet-10 to having a pretty good knowledge of =

it. 2 Fires in 2 weeks will do that I guess, the first fire was caused =

by a cap failure in the output network, and the second fire was caused=20
by insulation failure as a result of heating from the first fire. All in =

all I can't complain as this same transmitter is still on the air at 8=20
kW, and will go back to full power shortly when a replacement module and =

a couple other parts arrive.
