I think most I conversed with had already known about this and were all
enjoying the "variety" of the station. It sure was a hoot. Similar to
when either Cox or CBS/Infinity (I don't recall which one) sold then
WYSY
to SBS and Bill Murdock (engineer) was the only employee to go with the
station. There was a 3 or 4 month window where Bill was the programmer
of
the station and he did the same thing, but with a real library
(comprised
of songs already in the library and his own collection of music) and an
Audio Vault. "Radio Bill", as it quickly became known, saw the ratings
of
the station increase by 50% in one book before it went Spanish as
WLEY...LaLay or "The Law".
I believe it's there the "Jack"/play everything formats are really
rooted.
As for the LV sprawl...Like I said...it's simply unsustainable already.
I
just don't see how that basin can tolerate the continued construction
and
not reach a limit for water, power and other resource use. The area's
success will also be it's demise. If not soon, certainly by the next
major
economic or climate depression. And the whole SW USA will be damaged as
a
result. Just look to Lake Mead as the leading indicator.... It's quite
obvious from the air.
