Wow, Dana, this is amazing! Truly heartwarming! I can also speak from very
similar experience, year after year. The program that I host, "Morning Light",
(
http://www.mymorninglight.org ) is also listener-supported. I do not "beg",
and I only mention the financial need *a handful of times* each season. Year
after year, the listeners have come through in very similar ways... a few
dollars each, even up to thousands!
This is despite the fact that it is not even on the air year 'round! It airs
6-7am, Mon-Fri, Daylight-only sign-on permitting. Listener support has already
paid the airtime through the end of May for this year. (Since their gifts go
through my Church, they are tax-deductible. The Church then aggregates their
small donations into single, large checks that they send a few times a year.)
If you are giving listeners what they want, that they cannot get anywhere
else, *YES*, they WILL support it. Yep, even *music* on an analog AM station!
Imagine that.
It's all about the *content*.
Willie...
