Hardly. I designed the very first AM solid-state transmitter ever 
type accepted by the FCC (Cetec/Sparta SS1000).

to have run one first, but it wasn't type accepted at the time. I 
also designed the first  solid state FM transmitter.

As for CDs. I even have two recordings of my piano playing which 
would not have been possible if we were still using vinyl -- so I 
certainly appreciate that, too,

That's what I have been doing. What I have seen is awful compared to 
20 or 30 years ago. I'm simply reporting what I have observed. Since 
I no longer make a living in the Broadcast industry ( check out 
http://www.analogic.com ) my perspective is probably a lot clearer 
than one who must be careful to not insult the few remaining 
broadcast companies who still pay engineers a living wage. I can tell 
it like I see it.

Don't try to kill the messinger. We can agree to disagree.
