Dave,
TVA had a crew similar to this working their lines around
N. Alabama in 2002. They bunked at a hotel across the road
from one of my clients and used an adjacent field for an
LZ.
The chopper was fairly small and absolutely SCREAMED the
entire time it was in the air. I cornered one of the
ground support crew at a nearby DQ and asked him why.
The rotors on their particular aircraft were shortened by
several feet and WFO was the only way they would stay in
the air. Their crazies didn't leave the aircraft but sat
on a platform off the side to replace insulators. The
rotors were short enough that they could go below and come
up between horizontal runs of 500kv triplex lines. The
pilots could hold the helo absolutely still for several
minutes while the crazy inspected or replaced insulators
between the triplex HV wire.
Absolutely fascinating to watch.

For all that want a higher (no pun intended) pay scale, try
this. Actually,
it looks interesting.......
