Negative indeed, but maybe broadcast engineering is not the thing for him.
I have always believed that if you don't like what you are doing for
whatever reason, change it.  It may take a pay cut, long hours of study or
some such but the personal satisfaction and happiness is worth it.  At one
company I worked with for many years, the policy was, If your not happy
here, we will help you find somewhere else where you will be happy.  We
didn't have many takers.
