I did some contact work at a station with the Carver receiver as a AM  
station monitor.  We replaced it with a GE Super Radio mounted in a larger  
fiberglass box outside with the satellite receivers and got much better quality  than 
the Carver with an external antenna.  The GE radio was not AM  stereo,  but 
neither was the station.
