Even the rehire comment might get you in trouble, I remember trying 
to follow a reference. The company listed had the limited response 
policy. The person I spoke with tapdanced around it by saying "you'll 
be lucky to get him to work for you."

I've sat through a number of management training sessions run by 
various company law firms. As a manager you have to be extremely 
careful about what you say. Even complimenting an employee, male or 
female, on how well dressed they are can be deadly.
