Oh My!! What a challenge! To design a radio that everyone will
like! To do so is an astronomical task. needing Variable bandwidth
IF filtering, continuous filter tuning, continuous noise floor
adjustments, how to mix without generating filter products to deal
with, creating enough dynamic range to deal with a variable noise
floor, phase linear detection, and then we have to deal with an
outside source of smooth electricity, with benign noise
characteristics. After all this we will have to find an Audio Guru,
such as our own Bob Orban to come up with a creditable audio
component to feed into the yet to be designed speaker, to deal with
an audio system created by others over which we have no control at
the transmission end. That's just for the AM. A Collins R-390 comes
to mind as a place to start!
