[BC] Where did the RIAA go off the track?

I remember when Tower * was really big. They were not just Tower Records. In Sacramento, California I could get screen cards for PCs at midnight at a Tower store. What they did was __usual__. They followed the usual path to destruction. When they started, they latched onto any new product idea and marketed it. That got them growth. Then they just stagnated, ditched everything they did without replacing that product line. When PC hobbiests went away (read got real jobs), they closed those stores. When video tapes went away, they closed those stores. When CDs went off to iPODs they closed those stores. It's just typical. If you are going to make a living being an entrepreneur, you need to stay at the head of the line. They didn't know what business they were in. It's just just like Poloroid blaming digital cameras for their demise! They didn't realize that they were in the "instant picture" business, not the "instant picture film" business.
