Hey now...790 was my #1 preset in the rental car as I drove around! :-)

The CD changer is a leftover from the previous ownership, I'm
told...Beasley will be programming something more substantial on 790 by
the time we all reconvene there next April.

Do NOT get me started on this one!!

There was a car crash in the airport tunnel around 2:30 PM Wednesday,
and they closed Paradise Road heading into McCarran from the south as a
result.

I returned my car at the rental car center about 3:05, not knowing yet
about the accident. There was a line for the buses to the terminal
already, and I had to wait for two full buses before getting on one.
That turned out to be the easy part - they had the buses go up to
Sunset, west to Las Vegas Boulevard (involving two left turns with only
stop signs), north to Tropicana and east to Paradise to get into the
airport. There were some folks on my bus who had 4 PM flights. It was
4:15 or so by the time we got to the terminal.

And then, while there was no wait for security at the A/B gates, there
were lines back to the escalators for C (my gate) and D. It took another
33 minutes to get through security and down to C24 for my flight. (Last
year, it was 47 minutes, but this year all the security stations were
open, at least - there's just more traffic than the area was designed for.)

I made it - but only because I'd had enough nightmare experiences at
McCarran in past years to know that I should leave 2 1/2 hours for my
flight. So arriving at the rental car center at 3:05 for a 5:40 flight
ended up being just enough time. Ridiculous.

Have you seen some of the plans for all that newly-vacant space on the
Strip where the old Stardust and Boardwalk and other recently-demolished
low-end properties sat? MGM-Mirage has a huge condo development starting
to go up north of the Monte Carlo, there's the enormous Trump
development behind the New Frontier, the giant Venetian expansion now
underway, etc. etc. etc.

It just keeps going.
